when we moved in september we only moved across the street, but it feels like we moved 100 miles away. it's silly how i hardly see my old neighbors when i didn't move far at all. another thing that makes it feel so far is that we're in a different ward and a different stake. you know what switching wards means...yup. new callings. derek and i each had a really bad feeling about the callings we were going to get. the #1 calling derek never wanted was to be scout master. he didn't do and/or like scouts growing up (except for the camp outs). he never earned a merit badge or anything. and come on...now he has ALL GIRLS! well, he got called to be the scout master! ha ha a friend of mine moved out of the ward last week and she was the primary chorister. i KNEW i was going to take her place...and i was right. at first i was totally freaking out about it, but i think i'll be ok. lucky for my my sis-in-law, mother-in-law, and good friend (yes, i'm talking about you dd) have all been in my shoes, so hopefully i'll get good ideas from them.
oh, and our new bishop was not trying to get on our good side. after giving us the dreaded callings he asked us to speak in sacrement meeting! ha ha

Augh..that made me laugh so hard about Derek and scouts! Funny stuff. I still think you guys should just skip out and come back to our ward.
Hyrum and I are moving into our new ward soon as well. I'm nervous about the new calling. You'll have to tell me how yours goes. I miss you guys. I'm so glad we have these blogs. I haven't seen you in forever. How have you been?
We actually have another one on the way as well. I didn't know you just had one. Gosh I'm so out of touch too. I'm the worst cousin ever. Sorry. I love you and miss you.
Wow. You guys got hit hard. Primary chorister, scout master, and speaking in sacrament meeting. Ouch!
Boy, that bishop sure needs to learn when to stop!:) You will be GREAT at your new calling! I promise it will be fun and I'd love to help out if you need any ideas...I highly doubt it though!
I'm jealous! Primary chorister is my favorite calling. You will love it. Most of the time it's the kids favorite part of primary. Good luck!
That is funny about Derek! How can a boy not like scouts. All I have ever known is scouts. All of my 5 brothers got their eagles, Jeremy got his and Cameron absolutly loves scouts. I keep asking the Bishop if I can be the Scout Master or a den leader but he is keeping me in primary. Go figure the ones that don't want to be there are and the ones that do aren't.
I am cracking up! If Craig and I could choose our callings, Craig would pick Scout Master and I would pick Primary Chorister. No fooling! It's such a fun calling. I think you'll really love it. Check out the Friend each month for suggestions on how to teach the new songs for the program.
Ok I have this calling and it really rocks! I have so much advice for you. Where do I begin. First of all go get tons of awesome ideas from sugardoodle.net Then for younger kids - be loud and super enthusiastic. They will eat it up. I have had so many successful singing times. I will tell you the ideas that were awesome if you really want to know. I love this calling.
