Happy Valentine's Day

Stain Glass Sugar Cookies 

Use your favorite sugar cookie recipe. Cut out the cookies with a large cookie

cutter. Use a spatula to transfer the shapes to the baking sheet. Remove the

centers of the cookies with a smaller cookie cutter. Place 2 Jolly Ranchers (I

like using 2 different colors) in the center of each heart (or whatever shape

you made) and bake according to your recipe's instructions. Let the cookies

cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer them to wire racks to

cool completely. To prevent sticking, place waxed paper between layers of

cookies.

Basketball

 Katelyn loves basketball.  this year she was old enough to try out for the 5-6th grade traveling team.  she was one of the smaller girls to try out, and the only Caucasian!!  our town is surround by Navajo reservation and basketball is huge out here.  anyway, derek and i really thought there was no chance she would make the team, but we felt it was a great opprotunity for her to try out.  well, she did make it!!  she was so excited, and we were so proud of her.  derek took her to all of her out of town tournaments, and we took turns going to the games that were in town.  i'm one of those crazy mom who yells and cheers the whole game!  it's so hard not to go crazy when it's your kid out there!!!

Happy Birthday Derek!

 There's a restaurant called Market Street Grill in SLC.  our friends, the Evers, introduced us to a dessert from that restaurant that is Derek's FAVORITE... the Raspberry Almond Tort.  This year i was the best wife EVER and made it for him.  it is the most complicated, hardest thing i have ever made.  i'm pretty sure it would be easier to drive to salt lake and pick one up.  anyway, it was delicious, and i think derek enjoyed it!

A sweet lady in our ward also made derek and raspberry cheesecake cake.  the kids were excited to sing to derek and both desserts were gone by the end of the night.  Jeff, Kristina, Elea and Clayne came to visit this weekend too.  we love having them.
